THE HISTORY OF SERVICE

• VILKAVISKIS DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY PEDAGOGICAL PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICE was established on the 1st March 2005.
• On the 1st January 2012 the institution started implementing the refresher courses of pedagogues and the title was changed to VILKAVISKIS DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY PEDAGOGICAL PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICE.
• On the 15th February 2016 the institution started implementing the functions of Custody Centre.
• On the 6th August 2018 Community Family Home started functioning.

MISSION

• Identify the problems of the personality and education of a pupil (child), assess special learning needs and identify their level, decide on special education, provide educational help for pupils (children), parents (guardians, carers), pedagogical employees; coordinate it; in certain cases (when the Implementing Authority of Municipality has authorized it to Service) – provide pedagogical psychological help to teachers or other employees of educational institution, the ones having committed acts of violence or having experienced violence in educational institution.
• Create conditions for the development of the qualification of educational employees, satisfying the needs of the development of the competencies necessary for a person’s career, as well as lifelong learning needs.
• To perform the training of guardians (carers) and adoptive parents, as well as consulting, dissemination of information, provide help to guardians and foster children.
• Ensure that necessary consultative, psychosocial, legal and other help would be accessible and provide to all the adopted children, children cared by guardians non-related by family connections, children cared by guardians relatives (being cared), children cared by guardians on duty and to guardians on duty, carers without family connections, carers, adoptive parents or people who intend to become ones, aiming to properly educate and nurture a child, adopted child in the environment close to family.
• Create conditions for families to receive integrated services.
